The Technicolor Yawn
This morning... I was sick. I totally threw up all over the place.
I once went more than 12 years without vomiting. But I know I've done it at least three times in the last four years. That's way too much.
It's the WORST feeling in the world... especially when it happens so rapidly and you can't catch your breath.
But at least you finally get to use some of those classic vomit euphemisms, like
Hurl; Chunder; Spew; Puke; Ralph; Blow Chunks; Color Your Shoes; Pray to the Porcelain Gods; Upchuck; Yack; Murph (my own creation, I think it works); and probably my all-time favorite (even though I wasn't that crazy about the movie), from Varsity Blues:
"Billy-Bob, you been calling dinosaurs?"
"Yep"

Do you... oh, I guess you don't
My search engine, the Yahoo!, was blocked today at school because of some virus.
Another day under the tyrannical reign of the Google.
God help us all.
Really, I don't hate the google engine as much as I hate the adaptation of google as a verb in the common vernacular. The other night on the Daily Show, Jon Stewart asked Tom Cruise if he ever went on the Web and googled himself. It's just not wholesome.

Signaling Hope
Well blessed tonight... moved close to tears.
Jesus, knowing they were out to get him, moved on. A lot of people followed him, and he healed them all. He also cautioned them to keep it quiet, following guidelines set down by Isaiah:

Look well at my handpicked servant;
I love him so much, take such delight in him.
I've placed my Spirit on him;
he'll decree justice to the nations.
But he won't yell, won't raise his voice;
there'll be no commotion in the streets.
He won't walk over anyone's feelings,
won't push you into a corner.
Before you know it, his justice will triumph;
the mere sound of his name will signal hope,
even among far-off unbelievers.
- Matthew 12.15-21 (the message)
amen.

Labor Pains
Spent a very dull Labor Day at the apartment - cleaning, watching television, playing PC games and genuinely avoiding doing the grades I need enter for tomorrow.
It's 9:24 now and I still haven't left the apartment. I'll go take the trash down in a minute and I might go run a movie back and pick up a thing or two at Albertson's. How mundane everything seems! I sit and wait for SOMETHING to happen, SOMEONE to call... oh well. Could be worse, I suppose.

Peace, baby
I miss my thinking drive from back in Arkansas.
This is the former bank of Houston, Ark. (population less than 200).
But I've always called it the Peace Baby building because of the grafitti on the front.
I always drive by it, just past the old white Methodist Church across the river on Highway 60 - mentally and sometimes verbally working things out; sometimes between me and myself and sometimes between me and God.
I don't really have a drive like that here in Texas, where I'm surrounded by asphault for as far as the eye can see.
So... I miss it.

Spin Cycle
With the help of one "Mike", I made the long journey down to Lampasas to pick up a washer and dryer from my late grandmother's house. It was an easy trip, with good music and good conversation, as well as some scenery that consisted of more than just concrete and asphault for a change.
Just like Pat Green says, "sometimes you need a little hill country... a little backroads drivin'... a little of that ole top down..."
Well, I couldn't put the top down on my truck, but I wish I could've. It was a beautiful sky, blanketed with puffy nimbus clouds and patches of blue.
We spent about 90 minutes in Lampasas - loading up the washer/dryer, eating some of the most incredible barbeque ever and grabbing a tasty mocha on the way out of town at Perks, the coolest cafe I've ever seen. It's hard to believe that a place like that is located in such a small town.
Both Mike and I agreed that if we were happily married (not to each other, dude, but to the right women), we could live in one of those small towns pretty easily.
We left at 10 a.m. and got back and had everything hooked up by about 8 p.m. Then I dropped Mike off and went to meet Garry and Justin at No Frills for a little trivia, taquitos and a mug of the Woodchuck. All in all, a good day.
